Labour market flexibility increasing?

Article Abstract:

Although there is comparatively more flexibility in the Danish labor market such as collective labor agreements, there is no proven causal link between such high degree of flexibility and the recent robust economic growth and fall in unemployment. Rather, it is the tightening of unemployment policy which has disciplined the Danish workforce, increased productivity and stimulated economic growth.

New right-to-strike law

Article Abstract:

Italy's new right-to-strike law went into effect on April 27, 2000. The law defines essential public services, which include health, waste, transportation, telecommunications and media services, and the law outlines requirements for minimum services to be maintained even during a strike. Many workers are hostile to the new rules.

Collective Bargaining - Germany - Moderation characterises bargaining in 2000

Article Abstract:

The Germany Labour Ministry's review of collective bargaining in Germany revealed moderate pay agreements averaging 2 years, financing of occupational pension and phased early retirement. Bargaining parties were committed to negotiate agreements that are long-term and encouraged job creation.
