Article Abstract:
US multinational corporations lose an estimated $2 billion annually due to failed or aborted overseas assignments. Recommendations are given for improving cross-cultural training and selecting the proper personnel for overseas assignments. Corporate policies in this area need to be revamped and based on improving international effectiveness, rather than on past policies which are comfortable but ineffective.
