Executive compensation strategy and global positioning: a matter of alignment

Article Abstract:

A framework for aligning executive compensation strategy with the global positioning requirements of multinational companies is introduced. The model prescribes the setting of human resources policies and corollarily, executive compensation, based on three different organizational perspectives. These perspectives are domestic orientation, multinational orientation and global orientation.

Rewarding the international executive using stock options

Article Abstract:

The second part of an article on using share options to reward international executives is presented. Reference is made to the tax treatment in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium, and in particular to the problems that arise from the omission of share options from many income tax treaties.

Article Abstract:

The problems with share options and their alternatives are discussed. The Enterprise Management Incentive Scheme for small and medium-sized enterprises reduces tax on share option gains from 40 percent to 10 percent.
