Deaths rising on construction sites - government calls summit

Article Abstract:

With the number of deaths in the construction industry rising every year, the government of the United Kingdom called industry executives to a conference to improve safety at building work sites. Suggestions included adding more safety inspectors, voluntary accident reduction standards and increased training. Union protestors called for higher fines.

Article Abstract:

Real involvement, real partnership, real result were the topics discussed at RoSPA's Occupational Safety and Health at Work Congress held in May 2005. The roles played by the government, directors and workers in 'partnering for progress' were discussed.

A near thing!

Article Abstract:

The collection of near miss data is often cited as the vital tool in the prevention of accidents by managers and safety practitioners at work place. A near miss is in fact an accident that has not happened in observable physical consequences.
