Article Abstract:
The Occupational Psychology Department at the University of London, Birbeck College will expand following the selection of David Guest as professor of occupational psychology at the college. Guest has already established initiatives in areas that include research and course development and design. He firmly believes in the relevance of the social sciences to personnel management. Guest thinks that good information, organizational complexity, and the pluralist approach are important in communicating the personnel message. One aspect of occupational psychology education where Guest believes his department at Birbeck College needs to improve is research. One key area of research Guest will focus on is the role of consultants in the personnel function.
