US businesses are facing increasing changes in the areas of global competition, technology, and labor/management relations, trends which demand creative leadership. Experts agree that there are seven factors common to creative leaders, including trusting subordinates, encouraging risk, and developing vision. Corporations are using various methods to attract quality leadership candidates, including: recruiting at universities which have reputations as good sources of future leaders; maintaining high business-wide hiring standards; and paying particular attention to the potential for leadership during the recruiting process. Companies which have fine leaders tend to give challenging opportunities to employees and respect employees' competence.
