Communication without words

Article Abstract:

Nonverbal communication is a way to concretely interpret instinctive feelings in human relations, according to recent brain research. Other studies reveal that nearly 100% of impressions formed in the initial four minutes of a job interview come from an applicant's nonverbal behavior. Successful hiring decisions depend on a human resource professional's ability to interpret the behavior. Over half of a complete impression is based on facial expressions, which can reveal emotions ranging from disgust to anger. Vocal tone accounts for 38% of an impression. Other nonverbal clues are revealed through body movement, appearance, physical space, and environment.

Employment by trial (probationary periods for employees)

Article Abstract:

A proposed government-sponsored temporary employment system could help alleviate employers' reservations about the high cost of hiring new staff. It would provide government resources to match unemployed individuals with employers who need part-time or temporary help. The program would be beneficial because it would provide employees with a chance to learn different skills and gain exposure to different types of work, while giving employers the option to discharge, without penalty, those individuals who do not measure up. A three-point wage-subsidy plan is described.
