Collective agreement secures jobs at Volkswagen

Article Abstract:

A comprehensive agreement was reached by Volkswagen (VW) with IG Metall Trade Union, which guarantees all jobs at VW's six plants until December 2011 in exchange for zero wage round and more working time flexibility. VW will go ahead and reduce half of its planned 30% of German costs. Analysts and industry have welcomed the agreement, which they hope will become the auto industry benchmark.
