Burden of proof guidelines revised

Article Abstract:

The Court of Appeal has revised the guidelines relating to burden of proof originally put forth in Barton v. Investec Henderson Crosthwaite Securities Ltd. The revised guidelines were issued at a hearing of three conjoined appeals, i.e., Igen Ltd. (formerly Leeds Careers Guidance) and others v. Wong, Chamberlin Solicitors and another v. Emokpae, and Brunei University v. Webster. The salient provisions in revised guidelines are discussed.

Homeworkers need employment rights

Article Abstract:

Most homeworkers in the United Kingdom do not receive the national minimum wage, or sick pay, maternity leave, and health and safety checks that are other workersE rights. The National Group on Homeworking (NGH) has outlined certain proposals that they want the government to implement in order to extend employment rights to homeworkers under the Employment Status Review, and halt their exploitation.
