Act before the sparks fly: low conductivity in solvents can cause some surprising problems in the work place

Article Abstract:

The need to address electrostatic discharge through a series of duties placed on operates' manufacturing sites and the original equipment manufactures of plant and equipment (OEMs) has been recognized. The use of chemicals and other fluids capable of generating static buid-up that have inherently low conductivity. This can have several implications, electrostatic shock being the most obvious one. Repeated sparking can also damage equipment by causing surface pitting of the vessels or pipe.

European funding scheme boosts SME training

Article Abstract:

Health and safety is improved in 700,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the European funding scheme. The SME Funding Scheme, run by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work helped over 50 projects to improve health and safety.
