Article Abstract:

Social elections for work councils membership in the private companies in Belgium are held every four years. Unions are fighting to improve the working conditions and facilities for the workers. Issues relating to the welfare of the workers are discussed.

The results of the health and safety committees and work councils elections held in May 2004 in Belgium are presented. The results reconfirm the popularity of the trade union confederation Algemeen Christelijk Vakverbond (CSC/ACV) in the country.
