IBIS launched its second health care seminar by sponsoring the 1997 IBIS Seminar on health care in Europe, held in Amsterdam, March 1997. One of the seminar's guest speakers, Denise D'Hondt of Levi Strauss in Brussels, noted the significance of accident prevention and health protection programs in the success of her company. Another speaker, Dr. Wolfgang Dittmar of Siemens, highlighted the importance of social, psychic and biological systems in achieving complete well being. The last speaker, Ursula Stockl, shared the different health care services and social security programs her organization, Bavaria Wirtschaftsagentur GmbH, employs.

One major issue that affects the maximization of medical care value is excess demand. Excess demand for health care is defined as the request for medical services that have no impact on health. Research findings support that management of demand for medical services will improve employees' health and lower medical costs. Employers will also benefit through lower absenteeism, higher productivity, and lesser compensation claims.
