Sears forms group for direct sales

Article Abstract:

Sears has established Sears Direct, a new business group to further enhance its ability to relate to customers. Sears Direct will focus on the development of distribution channels in direct response and electronic commerce. Sears Direct, which was also created to accommodate the rising growth of the division, will be headed by Jane J. Thomson, head of Sears Home Services since 1996. Thomson will be succeeded by Richard J. Steadnicki as president in Sears Homes Services and will be reporting to Sears Chairman and Chief Executive Arthur Martinez.
