Retailers prepare for fall promos

The International Housewares Exposition in Chicago offered many innovative products, and retailers are enthusiastic about promoting them. One of the most exciting new products is Farberware's Electronic Ultra Chef, although discounters say it is too expensive for their customers. Buyers were pleased to find that producers were willing to negotiate. Retailers are looking forward to a good second half.

Specialty stores will have sales spurt and squeeze out department stores - the more educated consumer of the '80s will move to top quality products and more knowledgeable sales people which department stores can't provide.
