Article Abstract:
Century Furniture will implement a minimum retail price policy starting Jul. 1, 1998 as part of its effort to build a profitable brand name among select dealers. However, the policy will apply only to Century and Shuford wood products and not to Century Upholstery, Shuford Upholstery, Century Chair or Centurion Leather. Although Century Furniture's policy will limit discounts, it will still ensure a minimum gross profit margin of 38% to 40%, depending on dealers' sales volume with the firm. Century Furniture's policy is similar to the policy implemented by Thomasville Furniture in 1996.
