Emigrants crossing the Atlantic

Article Abstract:

In the 17th century, European emigrants making the more than 3,000-mile journey to North America had to endure harsh conditions at sea. Many died without without even completing the Atlantic crossing. Emigrants were also often victimized by ship owners and captains or even sold into slavery.

Indians introduced gambling to North America as they practiced it as a religious rite and means of worship, believing that gods played games with men as stakes. Then as now, gambling became a favorite activity for those who are willing to risk and want to get rich quick.
