Cookware manufacturers didn't stockpile aluminum during the recession when prices were low, and now, increased demand is causing prices to rise dramatically. Cookware accounts for only 6.4% of the total aluminum market, the greatest demand coming from the automotive and construction industries. Cookware manufacturers are handling the higher costs by increasing efficiency and prices.
