A rare find

Article Abstract:

A retired New England couple discovered two rare Shaker drawings in a flea market. The drawings, confirmed as Shaker art at the Hancock Shaker Village Museum, are due to be auctioned at Sotheby's on Jan. 19, 1997. Both the 'Tree of Light or Blazing Tree' and 'Gift Drawing' are from the mid-1800s.

Ingrain carpet

Article Abstract:

Ingrain was the most popular carpet form in the 19th century in middle-class homes. Also called Scotch, English, Kilmarnock and Kidderminster, two-ply, flat-woven, wall-to-wall ingrain remains a favorite decor in American homes. It is available in a variety of designs and colors.
