This time of year

Article Abstract:

A gardening magazine editor recalls how difficult it was for his mother, ill with emphysema, to get around at the Philadelphia Flower Show. This is the oldest flower show and the biggest in the US. Some of the staff had never been, so in honor of his now-dead mother he took them all to the 1991 show.

BT san diego is likely to become ineffective against potato beatles by 2000 if Monsanto successfully markets its new genetically engineered potato, 'New Leaf.' Use of BT will encourage BT-resistant pests to proliferate. Actions readers can take to help stop Monsanto are discussed.
