The plique-a-juor of Valeri Timofeev

Article Abstract:

Valeri Timofeev, trained in Russia, won the New Face/New Work Award and the Directors Choice Award, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, at the 2001 Crafts at Castle event sponsored by the Family Service of Greater Boston for his plique-a-jour bowl with spiked protuberances. Plique-a-jour is a technique in which translucent enamels are fused to span a network formed from gold, silver or copper wire, with no metal backing under the glazed areas.
