The technique of Japanning furniture began in the 17th century and the furniture was being made in France, Italy, Germany and Holland. The fact of the Japanned, Queen Anne style furniture being faked since 1920s is highlighted, and the customers are made aware to take care while purchasing it, for which certain clues are presented.

William and Mary style furniture is popular and reproductions made in Holland, America can sell for thousands of dollars when it makes a rear appearance. The most reproduced pieces are the side chairs with cane paneled backs, framed with heavy frames and many pieces, which come to the market, are altered over centuries.
