Tea in the garden

Article Abstract:

Compost tea which is a mixture of compost, water and substrate like molasses stewed together in a brew is being increasingly used as an organic fertilizer in many private and public landscapes like Rose Gardens in Chicago's Grant Park. Its benefits are manifold since it puts nutrients and beneficial microorganisms back into the soil enriching what has been depleted due to exposure to pesticides and inorganic fertilizers and is very economical compared to the traditional pesticides.

Youth garden symposium 2005

Article Abstract:

The AHS 2005 National Children & Youth Garden Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia, a three-day symposium held on the campus of Emory University presented ideas of nearly 200 participants from the US and overseas. The participants provided ample opportunities to learn how to use gardens and nature for interdisciplinary teaching across all age levels.

A personal narrative recounting the restoration of a quarter-acre backyard garden is presented. Additions include a flagstone path, a redwood fence and flowering shrubs.
