A visit to Charleston city in January is worth due to smaller crowds, cheaper rates and fine weather. The events for January 2005 are Snowfest, which features ice sculptures, marshmallow roasting and a hockey shootout, and Lowcountry Oyster Festival that showcases oysters and other eats.
