Article Abstract:

A compact, steep backyard of an old private house in Birmingham is transformed into an attractive garden by adding a row of English boxwoods to anchor the backyard and define the small lawn. Colorful shrubs grown between the steps in the garden hold the soil on the slope and soften the impact of the concrete steps.
