The Philadelphia Flower Show is the worlds largest indoor flower show and is the standard of excellence by which others are judged. The major exhibit at the show includes the work of a number of experienced nurseries and florists, entities and schools. The exhibitors consider the show as a part of their annual advertising and promotion budget.

Seeing the city for the trees

Article Abstract:

Residents of Ithaca, New York, are allowed to have plants in the tree lawn or utility strip that belongs to the local government, and the city works with the residents to ensure the plants are appropriate. The city approves of diversity and color.

The garden of our discontent

Article Abstract:

The author remembers working on the hard rocky soil of his childhood home in New York. Once his parents found they enjoyed digging for fun, the children were set to work replacing the scraggly lawn with gardens.
