Bald eagles have increased in population in the US to approximately 4,500 adults. Their status has been upgraded from endangered to threatened. Bald Eagles are still protected by the Endangered Species Act. Tips are offered on how best to observe the birds.

A basic guide to bird identification

Article Abstract:

Identifying birds is a difficult process. Field marks offer clues, but they are not the only way to recognize birds. Shape and behavior are better indicators since marks can alter due to seasonal changes in plumage, patches and colors.
