The Morefield mine turns 70

Article Abstract:

The Morefield mine named after Silas Morefield who discovered the pegmatite stores in Amelia County, VA, celebrates its 70th anniversary in 1999. Since then, the place has been frequently visited by underground miners and recreational collectors in search of interesting stones and gems.

A refuge for collectors

Article Abstract:

A team of traveling mineralogists discovered Flook Lake in southern Oregon. It is a dry lake bed where jasper, agate, obsidian and petrified wood abound. Collecting these minerals in the summer while antelopes running from a nearby refuge is an unforgettable experience.

Clash of the Titans

Article Abstract:

The Dinosaur Hall of Philadelphia's Academy of Natural Sciences provides its visitors a prehistoric experience by displaying skeletons of dinosaurs. The hall also has animated dinosaurs featured in its Time Machine and is decorated by a Mesozoic mural.
