British doll artist Linda Murray makes her dolls entirely from cloth, using a complicated process to fashion detailed heads and bodies with a hard, sealed finish. Her 'shell cloth' technique is described.

Article Abstract:

The 1946 Theatre de la Mode exhibition was historic for both the revival of the Paris fashion industry, and for the fashion doll industry. Couture leaders used dolls due to post-war materials shortages.
