Article Abstract:

The 18-cent Flag Coil '...from sea to shining sea' issued by the Postal Service on Apr 24, 1981 is a new collecting specialty. The specialty was created by the Plate Number Coil Study Group in 1982 and has been furthered by research.

Apaches attack eastbound Butterfield Stage: 1861

Article Abstract:

Apache Indians attacked the Butterfield Overland Mail Stage at Apache Pass in Arizona in 1861. The US Postal Service issued a stamp to commemorate the ambush that killed one postal employee.
