Some of the most innovative ideas in marine diesel technology were presented at the Ft Lauderdale Boat Show. Yanmar Diesel America engines combined with MerCruiser Bravo stern drives and the TriMax- drives with ZF two-speed transmissions. Detroit Diesels will introduce its 2000/4000 engine series.

New marine diesel engines to be introduced in 1996 include the Alaska Diesel 436-cid L6108A, units with new electronic controls from Caterpillar and six Diamond Performance Series engines from Cummins. A survey of the new offerings from major manufacturers is presented.
