Louis Armstrong stamp released September 1, 1995

On Sep 1, 1995, a single Louis Armstrong stamp was dedicated at New Orleans, LA at the American Musical Stamp Festival. On Sep 16, 1995, a stamp set honoring Armstrong and nine more American African Jazz greats will be dedicated at the Monterey, CA Jazz Festival. Heavy marketing is planned.

Louis Armstrong issue scheduled for this fall

Article Abstract:

Jazz pioneering giant Louis Armstrong is the most requested subject for a postage stamp. In the last seven year 38,765 signatures from 62 countries have made the request. A brief recounting of his life and an acknowledgement of the African roots of jazz is given.

New UN stamps scheduled for release

Science and technology for development is the theme for six stamps that will be issued by the United Nations Postal Administration in Oct 1992. The stamps are in denominations of six countries. Designs of the stamps are detailed.
