Coming to grips with grain

Article Abstract:

Print Grain Index (PGI) from Kodak is a practical system for predicting the graininess of blowups of photographs. PGI uses the paradigm of a Grain Ruler that uses 16 gray fields in equal visual increments. Techniques for using PGI are evaluated.
