Madame Alexander, the owner of the Alexander Doll Co., designed the adult doll mold which led to the creation in 1955 of 'Cissy,' the first doll with an adult figure. 'Cissy' had a molded, full-figure bustline, high-heeled molded feet, but kept the familiar dolly face of earlier Alexander dolls.

Accessories for fashion dolls changed between the 1950s and the 1970s. Debutante fashion dolls with many accessories were popular in the 1950s. They were followed by the teenaged dolls of the 1960s and the glamorous fashion accessories of the 1970s.
