A biplane with biceps

Article Abstract:

This year's AIAA design model airplane design contest was won by a team from Utah State University. The design was for a radio-controlled, electric powered aircraft with a 9 foot wingspan. The Utah State team created the Dragon Fly, a streamlined biplane with a doubled wing area.

R/C blimp modeling: a walk on the lighter side

Article Abstract:

Lighter-than-air models such as blimps and other airships are very simple compared to R/C airplanes. A working model can be built out of simple materials such as plastic trash bags, drop cloths, balsa wood, an electric motor and a 3-channel radio control.

Lighter-than-air-R/C: designing and building blimps

Article Abstract:

A radio-controlled airship is perfect for novices as an entry-level model due to its moderate speed and simple handling characteristics. A working model can be constructed using a conventional radio, helium, a light servo, and plastic bags.
