Vija Celmins, a New York-based Latvian-born painter, printmaker, and draftswoman, is an important contributor to the American Art scene since the mid-1960s who can translate observation through the hand and produce a stunning visual record. She received fellowships from the National Endowment for Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the MacArthur Foundation.
