Steven Squyres, Director of the Mars Exploration Rover Mission

Article Abstract:

Steven Weldon Squyres, planetary researcher, geologist, and astronomy educator, is also director of the Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Mission, a project supported by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Squyres worked with a large team of scientists and engineers to design and build two extremely complex instrument-laden robotic rovers that landed on Mars in January 2006 to relay crystal-clear images of the Martian surface and information on the geology of the planet.
