Grammer was born in 1955 on Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands. He worked in regional theater before landing the role of psychiatrist Frasier Crane on the television show 'Cheers.' The character, which became permanent because it was so popular, produced a spin-off show, 'Frasier.'
