Dench has been performing in UK theaters, movies and televisions since the late 1950s but became popular in the US only in 1997 when she played the lead role in the film 'Mrs. Brown' where she was nominated as best actress for an Academy Award. Her career, particularly as stage actress, is discussed.

Tavener, John

John Tavener is a British composer who made a name writing Christian songs. He composed choral music, religious songs and requiems and used text from the Bible as lyrics. 'The Protecting Veil' is perhaps his most famous composition.
