Brown developed her career at Judson Dance Theare and Grand Union in New York, NY in the 1960s and 70s. Having gone through 'equipment' and 'accumulation' phases, she now uses full staging and costumes, but retains avant-garde concepts such as considering almost any movement to be dance.
