Playwright August Wilson realized a singular theatrical achievement between 1980 and 2005, that is, the completion of an epic 10-play cycle chronicling African-American experience in each decade of the 20th century. Eight of Wilson's plays reached Broadway during his lifetime, including 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom', which earned Wilson the first of his four New York Drama Critics Circle Awards.

Abba Eban, February 2, 1915-November 17, 2002 Israeli statesman, the father of Israeli diplomacy, former foreign minister and ambassador to the United Nations and the United States. As a major in the British Army during World War II, served in Egypt and Palestine, and became director of the Middle East Center for Arab studies.

Gerald Ford, the 38th president of the U.S. was often referred to as the "accidental president". Ford was pushed into the presidency in the wake of the Watergate scandal, as a decent, calm and conciliatory figure who had been elected neither to the presidency nor the vice presidency, a unique situation in the nation's history.
