Article Abstract:
Andrew Sarris's work "The American Cinema: Directors and Directions, 1929-1968" made auteur theory the dominant mode of American film criticism in the 1960s, radically challenging the prevailing critical hierarchy with its three-tiered categorization of direction and their oeuvres. Sarris's career in film criticism spanned more than half a century, a majority of it as the primary film critic for the "Village Voice", and includes several published auteur studies and film surveys.

Article Abstract:
Kyung-Wha Chung was one of the first Asian classical musicians to gain prominence in Europe and North America and has performed with almost every major orchestra and conductor, as well as in duos with pianists such as Radu Lupu. Chung's repertoire includes 18th- and 19th-century standards along with extremely difficult 20th-century violin concertos that many accomplished musicians hesitate to tackle.
