Treating internal resorption using a syringeable composite resin

Article Abstract:

Researchers describe the treatment of internal tooth resorption with Marathon syringeable composite resin. Internal resorption causes a large hole in the root of the tooth. It produces non symptoms and is usually found in dental X-rays. The syringeable resin is injected into the tooth root. Light curing can be used to maximize the polymerization of the resin. This treatment strengthens the tooth, unlike other treatments such as gutta-percha, zinc oxide eugenol and amalgam alloy.

Article Abstract:

Researchers discuss the use of heavy-body composite resins for filling cavities, particularly in posterior teeth. These composite resins have only been available since the late 1990s so their long-term effectiveness is not known. Manufacturers of these resins claim the material is easy to place, non-sticky, does not slump, is compressible but strong and shrinks less than other composite resins.

Using packable composites for direct posterior placement

Article Abstract:

Dentists describe how to use tooth-colored composite resins to fill cavities in back teeth. Many patients prefer these fillings over an amalgam filling and the resin provides a more natural appearance.
