Article Abstract:

The manager of community health care project, Jarrow ComCare, has been awarded the NT/3M National Nursing Award for management. A multi-disciplinary team, led by the project manager provides joint patient care. A chiropodist, physiotherapist, dietician, community psychiatric nurse and occupational and speech therapists complement the primary health team of midwives, health visitors and district nurses. Four support workers provide suplementary care. South Tyneside Health Authority, England's pilot study was conducted in Bede ward, Jarrow, England.

Article Abstract:

Community respite care services have been established in Cottenham, Cambridgeshire, England. A care respite bed has been allocated at Fitzwilliam House by combining health authority and social services resources. A carers' group organises the allocation of the bed according to need. The service has averted emergency respite care in psychiatric hospitals. The scheme's success has prompted the introduction of a second group at Histon, Cambridgeshire.

Clinical governance and tissue viability

Article Abstract:

A description is presented of the techniques which can be used by community nurses to shape health care policy. The tissue viability services provided by community nurses are discussed.
