Timing of antiretroviral therapy initiation in tuberculosis patients with AIDS

Article Abstract:

A decision analysis was conducted to gain insight into the optimal timing of HAART initiation in HIV-infected persons receiving antituberculosis therapy. Results reveal that high rates of immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS)-related mortality with early HAART initiation would favor deferring HAART until at least 2 months after initiation of antituberculosis therapy.
