Indication-specific accuracy of second-trimester genetic ultrasonography for the detection of trisomy 21
Article Abstract:
Genetic ultrasound scans are 80%to 100% accurate in detecting Down's syndrome prenatally. During these scans, doctors look for anatomic signs of trisomy 21, such as facial and hand abnormalities, short arm and leg bones, a thick neck, and other signs.
