Article Abstract:

Intensive Care Unit treatment of a Guillain-Barre syndrome patient without sedation in Leicester Royal Infirmary, England has enabled assessment of the quality of nursing care. The patient indicated five valued and five upsetting nursing practices. The patient considered staff personal attention and reassurance the most positive aspects of treatment. Boredom was the most negative feature. The patient's priority of emotional care was distinct from the nursing staff's priority of physical care.

Article Abstract:

Talking over the days events with colleagues helps most intensive care nurses to come to terms with stress caused by the nature of the role. Intensive care nursing involves caring for critically ill patients whose lifes totally depend on the expertise of nursing staff. The whole unit must act together to ensure the highest quality care. Nurses deal with death on a daily basis but are also rewarded by the recovery of extremely sick patients.

Article Abstract:

Intensive care unit (ICU) nursing is very rewarding because it is challenging and constantly changing.The nurses in ICU also spend a lot of time caring for relatives and receive a high level of support to manage patients with head injuries, general trauma, medical conditions, renal conditions and patients who are postoperative following road traffic accidents.
