The construction and utility of an amniocentesis trainer

Article Abstract:

A plastic box filled with gelatin adequately simulates a pregnant abdomen for practicing ultrasonically-guided amniocentesis. Researchers placed a 2 cm. target in a plastic box filled with gelatin, then covered it with a rubber membrane from a pelvic examination training device. The gelatin retains an impression of each pass of the sampling needle, allowing physicians to practice sampling fluid from the amnion in pregnancy for diagnostic testing.

Timing of antenatal corticosteroids and neonatal pulmonary mechanics

Article Abstract:

Multiple doses of corticosteroids are more effective than one if a pregnant woman in premature labor does not deliver within 7 days of the first dose. This was the conclusion of researchers who evaluated lung function in babies of women who received one dose more than 7 days before birth and women who received multiple doses.

Prospective randomized controlled trial of fetal fibronectin or preterm labor management in a tertiary care center

Article Abstract:

The effect of prospective randomized controlled trial of fetal fibronectin on women with preterm labor management in a tertiary care center is studied. Results indicate a negative fetal fibronectin test is associated with lesser admissions in the antepartum ward and shorter duration of stay.
