The 30-minute promise

Article Abstract:

A fast response home-care nursing team can play a valuable role in reducing the number of inappropriate admissions to UK hospitals. This has been seen in Solihull, England, where the number of referrals to the Solihull Fast Response Nursing Service (SFRNS) has grown steadily since it was set up in Nov 1996 as an 18-month pilot scheme. SFRNS nurses patients in their own home, or sometimes in residential homes, but it is not intended to be an extra home care service or district nursing service. It mainly deals with patients with medical-type illnesses, terminal care and trauma.
