TV watchers want content info

Article Abstract:

The American Medical Association (AMA) and other medical associations are lobbying for changes in the television ratings system, hoping for more content-specific ratings that go deeper than the extant quantifying of potentially injurious scenes used to determine a program's corresponding rating. Medical groups classify the attendant effects of television violence as public health issues, and are thus hoping that public health science and research will help concerned professionals achieve a workable solution.

Article Abstract:

The federal government, in the wake of voter approval for the medical use of marijuana in California and Arizona, warned doctors not to recommend the drug to their patients, but the Health and Human Services Dept and Justice Dept have since said that doctors may discuss marijuana use as a treatment option. It remains unknown, however, if marijuana is worthy of consideration as a treatment. The American Medical Assn has long favored research into the medical use of marijuana.
