Survival and failure to thrive in the SIV-infected juvenile Rhesus monkey

Article Abstract:

Young Rhesus monkeys infected with simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) do not grow normally. In a group of young SIV-infected monkeys, viral load rather than CD4 T cell count seemed to be linked to failure to thrive. SIV is related to HIV, the virus that causes AIDS in humans.
